Gap Toothed

In the last few months models dawning there best Lauren Hutton gap are landing big advertising deals and even more coveted mag covers, is there a beauty lesson to infer from this? I think so, the gap that modeling agencies told Hutton to fill in, (and she promised to best lie ever told) soon the gap became her calling card and Hutton soon took over the fashion scene. Now 20 some years later the likes of Lara Stone,Georgina May Jagger major girl crush and Anna Paquin have brought the gap back... is it here to stay? If it brings these girls out of the wood work then lets hope so.

I seem to have forgotten the indescribable Brigitte Bardot and Vanessa Paradis in my list of Gap toothed lovelies. Are you making an unscheduled appointment with you dentist, it may be in order.
If you have any idea about where the photos came from please let me know so I can give credit.

Can you tell?

Between the women rocken' the Mia Farrow pixie cut, mens wear inspired blazers and the chic natural "I wake up looking perfect" approach to beauty and the men sporting ever growing locks (just look to style maven Andrew Mukamal  I could do an entire post about him and his leather shorts and model-turned-rocker Jamie Burke) manery (man jewels) and there need to steal the eyeliner its getting harder and harder to tell who the hell your supposed to be flirting with at your local watering hole. My advice throw on the most elusive trench coat maybe some plaid ( heels are ok because you date may have on a pair) and join the androgynous movement.

So by now I hope your realizing how much I really do love Marc Jacobs. Well anyway the second from the bottom is an assistant turned muse. Lea T is a transgendered model look it up who has inspireGivenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, has been featured in the spring print ads and will be appearing on one of Opera's final episodes. The top photo is from Vanity Fairs September 2007 editorial.

Style Savvy

So this week google launched its first fashion e-commerce site Boutiques.com. The concept behind the website being that you can "create" your  custom Boutique filled with shoes, clothes and accessories based on the colors, cut and style you pick. Also you can follow certain celebs, designers and bloggers such as the Olsen Twins, Marchesa and Rumi Neely (FashionToast). With such icons how can this go wrong... Below are some images of the kick off party.

Mary-Kate Olsen
Ashley Olsen in a Balenciaga Sweater
Alexa Chung in Proenza Schouler

 Rumi Neely,Grey-Yambao, and  Susie Lau.

Iman
Emma Roberts

As always the Olsens look perfect, Ashley staying true to her feminine minimalist style while Mary-Kate
sports her rocker-boho chic look. Other celebs looking stellar are Alexa Chung and Emma Roberts. Alexa wearing the peter pan collared Proenza Schouler dress. While I haven't been the biggest fan of Emma's fashion choices I have slowly been seeing her grow up and out of the "party dress" phase of her fashion infancy and really mature into a budding fashionista.

Agree/disagree let me know?

Hallowed Ground- lady crush #2

Very few people come along that have and true fresh and interesting point of view in general maybe thats why I'm completely inthralled with Florence Welch of Florence and The Machines. She makes no point to hide that her best writing comes from being hung over and that you must live life to write about love, hate, sex and the experiences that make life worth living. I'm falling fast and hard for this lovely british (obv. she would be a brit there always the coolest) songstress and not just because of the talent she is quickly becoming a fashion icon yes Icon in my book. Everything from her etherial stage garments to the sequined hot shorts she wears in her video Drumming Song. She is amazing at incorporating unseen designers such as Willow and even giving budding designers a chance to design a stage outfit for her. I recently saw her live at Voodoo Fest and it quickly reassured me of my newest lady crush
I've decided to start a new section of this blog actually as I'm writing this and its my lady loves and I'm currently at 2, so enjoy the visual feast below.

If you not in love by now there is no hope but you should suck it up because I see her being the coveted "it" girl of someone like my fashion Love Marc Jacobs. Can you say spring 2012 maybe? A girl can dream can't she...

GAGA for Marc Jacobs

So while in NYC I happened upon the New York edition of V Magazine. Now while I usually forgo the gift shops at airports (overpriced, over crowded, just over) I stopped in for some water and soon realized due to my addiction (to mags) that I currently owned all the new mags out for the month but at second glance down on the bottom rack I saw it. Marc Jacobs and Lady Gaga on the cover of Vmag, note to self subscribe. Anyway all rules out the window I must own seeing as how I had seen the man himself earlier on the street...DIE I took it as a sign.

This cover was shot Mario Testino who also shot Gaga's previous V cover. Who better to be Ms. & Mr. New York than the aforementioned. Also Chloe Sevigny looking beautiful.
What do you think?

Is Cheetah the new black?

While I have many more posts to come on my past trip to New York and New Orleans I thought I would give you all a quick fashion update. So in recent months  we have been bombarded with all things animal, whether it be faux fur, leopard print shoes (a la the coveted Jeffrey Campbell wedges) or the iconic LBD. It seams we are plagued with this new trend and its not going anywhere. So I have learned to embrace this trend in a very small way. Its always been a personal philosophy that animal print is best suited for the pay-by-the-hour type of gal but I have embraced I give you the new leopard print mani

Yes, I did them myself

Concrete Jungle

The second day in the city was very telling to say the least. Anna Wintour gave the opening address giving a brief show case of some of her favorite Vogue covers.

She also showed us some of the images for the best dressed issue but for legal reason that I am unclear of I'm not going to post them.

I also meet the editors

Also Jane and Judy Aldridge (sea of shoes) Hanneli Mustaparta, and the creator of Street Peepers talked about this vast and wide spread world of fashion blogging.

Next up the Intern Queen

And the last seminar was Zac Posen. He was amazing giving an honest account of what it will take for a young designer to make it in this world with a fresh point of view and possibly no money in the bank.

Here are a few shots of his up coming lower based line Z-Spoke

Finally VERA WANG!!

All I have to say is she is sweet, funny, bitting and honest.
She was so honest, thats the best way to describe the way she spoke to us. She held nothing back about her time at Vogue where she was an editor for almost 20 years before becoming a bridal designer then parlaying that into a fashion empire.

After filling our heads with enough information to to cause it to burst we hit up the H&M shopping party. We were giving something sweet to look at with all the models walking around with oh so cute mini shakes root-beer floats and tiny cakes. Why is dessert so good when its tiny?

pardon the knee pads I feel the day before my trip, yea I know i shouldn't be aloud to leave home.
